Duration: 4 hours (including transportation)
Everyone loves Christmas, but in Finland it is the most important celebration of the year. Joulukka opens its doors for you to discover firsthand the Finns’ favorite Christmas traditions. Baking of Christmas pastry called “tähtitorttu” is something that everyone in the family joins in. You can try your baking skills and make the sweetest “tähtitorttu” of them all. You can also put your artistic skills to the test in our workshop, where you learn how to make traditional Finnish Christmas decorations out of straw. It requires a steady hand, a little bit of effort and imagination.
Fetching your very own Christmas tree from the snowy forest is something that all the Finns can remember from their childhood. Finding the right tree can be a little difficult, but the satisfaction of getting the perfect Christmas tree where you can hang your self-made decorations makes it truly worthwhile. When the tree is lit up, there will be dancing and singing around the Christmas tree before savoring the delicious Christmas rice porridge which is also a favorite of Santa Claus himself.
